Alejos L. Escamia peacefully passed away at his home surrounded by family on January 25, 2023 at the age of 85. He was born February 9, 1937 in Wharton County to the late Juan and Maria Longoria Escamia. He was an oil field driller. He was the best prankster, he loved to cook and make sure there was plenty of food for everyone, he met no stranger. He loved going to the casinos to gamble and was always ready for a good road trip to wherever the open road took him.
Alejos is survived by sons, Robert Escamia (Rosa), Eddie Escamia, Alejos Escamia, Jr. (Helen); daughters, Nora Orta, Cathy Vasquez (Joe), Esther Ybarra (Ramon), Becky Martin (Ditino); brother, Adam Escamilla. He was also blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Adela Escamia; son, Salvador Escamia, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Ruby Ozuna Escamia; great grandson, Daniel Escamia; brothers, PAscual Escamilla, Amador Escamilla, Sgifredo Escamilla and sisters, Diana Reyes, Mary Jane Escamia.
Visitation will begin at 4 pm Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Wheeler Funeral Home with rosary being recited at 6 pm. Funeral mass will be at 10 am at St. Robert’s Catholic Church on February 1, 2023.
Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Guajardo, Salvador Escamilla, Alex Cardenas, Eddie “Doc” Escamia, Jr., Sergio R. Martin, Arthur Vasquez, Jose L. Escamilla and Tim Smithwick.
