Jared Duane Queen, age 47, of Matagorda, Texas passed away January 27, 2025 in Houston at the Medical Center. He was born at McAlester Hospital on June 16, 1977 in McAlester, Oklahoma. He graduated from Bay City High School. He was the best speller in the entire county area, and after winning all the local competitions, competed in the East Texas Spelling Bee in Houston. When the movie Star Wars came to theaters, he watched it with his dad numerous times and was a big fan of the movies throughout his life. As an adult, he was a well-known, first-class chef at Sea Breeze and various other restaurants in Matagorda, a video game enthusiast and was generous and helpful to friends in need. He is survived by his wife Tammy of 18 years, his father Richard Queen and wife Brenda, his mother Gloria Pfaff, sisters Stephanie Queen and Rebecca Willis, nephews Scott Jr., Chase Aaron, Steven Wayne, and Charles Allen and Uncle Mike Daugherty and numerous other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Bill and Verena Caskey and maternal grandparents Charles and Mildred Daugherty.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Methodist Church, 813 Fisher, Matagorda, TX 77457 on February 8, 2025 at 12 Noon.
