Mrs. Joe Ann Menefee Polasek passed away suddenly on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the age of 91 years young due to a sudden illness. She was proceeded in death by her husband Edwin Frank Polasek and her parents Thomas N. Menefee and Artie Mae Hammont. She is survived her son, Robert Allen (his wife, Elizabeth), daughter Dr. Connie Lynn Polasek and Dawn E Needels (her husband, William "Bill" Needels). Her grandchildren are Christopher Allen Polasek, Emily Needels, and William "Ryan" Needels. She is also survived by her siblings Thomas Menefee (wife Virginia,) brother David Menefee (wife Cynthia) and sister Jane Barclay as well as numerous much-loved cousins, nephews, nieces and close friends.

Joe Ann was born in Louise, Texas on 12/30/1932, where she grew up, meeting her future husband at age 2. Always together, they became inseparable high school sweethearts, graduating in 1948 from Louise High School. After Edwin joined the USAF and toured Korea, he and Joe Ann married on January 20, 1950. She proudly followed with him around the world to El Paso, TX, Hawaii, Waco, Germany, and Rome, NY. After retirement, they briefly moved to Littleton, Colorado, eventually returning to Markam, TX where they built their home on the Tres Palacious.

She was an avid Houston Astros fan, adored her cat, Billie, knitted Christmas stockings and the phone never stopped ringing each day as she kept in touch with her extended family. She was energetic, known for her sweet nature, kind heart and positive outlook toward life. She was the keeper of the family calendar of birthdays and anniversaries.

A Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 16 between 4-6 pm at Wheeler Funeral Home in El Campo, TX. A memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM, on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 1st Baptist Church in Louise, TX. She will ultimately be interned with her husband at the Houston National VA Cemetery in Houston.

 

In place of flowers the family is requesting donations in her name to the 1st Baptist Church, Louise, TX or the church or charity of your choice.
